Thelma is a mix medium abstract painter who lives and works in Henley On Klip, Meyerton South Africa. Her distinctive personal style emanates joy and peace and expresses the vibrant spirit and atmosphere of this little village she lives in.
As the artist explains, “I am a story teller and I welcome you to join me on this visual journey.” As a child Thelma worked on her innate talent. From a young age she has believed, “That art has no boundaries and is only limited by your imagination.” Inspired by Jackson Pollock’s work, she found her own style.
Thelma has always been fascinated by images and how the world is represented through the eyes of others. This is the reason she chose abstract art as her style. “With abstract art you leave it to the imagination of the viewer and they can create their own story behind every piece of art work.”
With no formal training, Thelma has found her preferred style and has worked on her skills for the last 25 years. As a child she won a couple of children’s art competitions but had to put her art career on hold for the movie business. After 14 years in the movie business, she has decided to return to her passion: Art.
“I live, eat, sleep, and LOVE art!”
Apart from mixed medium abstract painting, she also does abstract sculpting, shoe and clothing painting, abstract photography and jewelry making. She’s also a qualified Graphic Designer.
